New Year's Nip

For Christmas I got two new nip treats...one is a Pittsburgh Steelers nip pillow and the other is a nip stocking. Here I am with my stocking, which was so great it practically gave me fits. Notice my dilated pupils:

Christmas cardboard

My people are getting ready for Christmas, and that means several exciting things for me: cardboard, paper, and curly ribbon. I enjoy all three. Here I am with a wrapping paper tube. My person says my name through it all loud, like a Milo megaphone, and while she says my name I chew up the end. I rip off bits of cardboard and spit out the bits on the carpet. I like to show my fangs.

Here's another picture of me in action. Check out my mighty jaws:

I can't wait for the reindeer to show up.....

Fleece Belly

Here I am on a blustery fall weekend. Good thing I'm inside on my fresh-from-the-dryer fleece blanket. I've been preparing for a long, cold winter: witness my girth and extra-thick, super-insulating belly fur.

Scabby

I sometimes scratch my ear or my forehead (on the bald-ish part) too hard. Recently I scratched four spots on my right side and one on my left. Now I have tough-looking scabs. Like I used to get when I was on the mean streets.

Happy Halloween

Well, Halloween's over. Here's a picture of me in my pumpkin suit. I don't really like wearing it but I do look fantastic.

Maybe it was Friday the 13th....

I don't know why, but I've been ALL RILED UP for the past few days. On Saturday I ran around as fast as I could all day, I knocked stuff down, I bit my person and I pooped on the rug in the bathroom. Today I pooped on the rug again and ripped up a plastic bag. Whew! I'm exhausted now, and resting by the heater.

Mmmmm flowers

Here I am enjoying some new fall flowers. I like to rub my whiskers on them. Sometimes I get pollen on my nose. And sometimes I knock the vase over. You can't see her doing it, but my person is holding it up so I can sniff, rub, and bite these flowers. She didn't really like it when I snapped one of the stems in half though.

In addition to flowers, I like plants that are tendril-y and have dry crunchy leaves.

Steamy

I like to be warm. And moist. I frequently go into the bathroom when my person is taking a shower so I can get all steamed up while laying on the plush rug. Recently I found something that's even better: the dishwasher. After its done running, my people open the door and let me lay down on it. I stay until my nose gets pink like a strawberry and I am slightly damp.

An intemperate feline

I've mentioned my love of cardboard and fleece. I also like baskets. They crinkle and are pleasingly textured. My people store their entertainment items and plants on this basket-y serving tray in the kitchen. One day I shoved all of their stuff to the side and settled in. Now they keep a space clear just for me.

I'll take my cream straight up, please.

Nice lady pets me....

My good friend Yuri has reminded me of a Hallmark card haiku that made our people nearly fall over laughing. My person's fabulous friend Tracy sent it to her on Mother's Day. Here it is:

Nice lady pets me
Scoops the poop out of my box
I call her Mommy

And, speaking of poop, I got new litter today. It is called "World's Best Cat Litter" and is made from corn. I haven't tried yet, but those of you who know me well know my love of corn. I think it will work out.

Watch Cat!

Before finding my person, I survived--- no, thrived--- on the mean streets of Kalamazoo, Michigan. So I know danger and the criminal element. This enables me to be a #1 Watch Cat. One time, in Lafayette, IN, I alerted my person to a prowler outside her window. He was looking inside her kitchen and was not supposed to be there! After we chased him away, a friend composed a poem in my honor:

My name is Milo
I'm the Number One Cat
I'm white and tan and rabbity fat
I like to eat and sleep and talk and play
But my main job is keeping prowlers away!

Fall fleece

Even though it's still warm here in New Jersey, I am ready for fall. My person set up my bed for me, adding an extra layer of fleece. Here I am lounging in it. Notice the rugged moose pattern on the blanket. So toasty and knead-y.....

Walrusy

Not only do I have plush fur, I also have long, thick, luxuriant whiskers. They are pure white and very clean. Some days they look particularly impressive; today is one of those days. My person measured my whiskers this morning with a tape measure and said they are 3 1/2 inches long. Then she told me that I am looking especially walrusy today. I like that.

All riled up about string!

One of my favorite activities is a rowdy game of string. I have a brown string with plastic knobs at each end for biting. I used to play it where ever I last dropped it. Now I play on the bed. I especially like to play when the sheets and blankets are extra smooth. I let my people know I want to play by running up the steps at top speed and then leaping onto the bed with a mighty roar. My person whips the string around, I grab it, bite it and then I rake it...just like prey. I like to spice up the game by making ungodly shrieks the whole time. Here are some photos of me in action.

In this first photo, I'm honing my technique and making my move. Note my stellar athleticism and catly reflexes.

In this next one, I've captured the string.

Now I'm raking the s**t out of it.

Awesome!

What happens when I'm not around

Here's my chair in Pennsylvania. It is a nice sunny spot with a view out the window. When I'm not around, Geronimo lounges in it. He and I are the same size.

Injustice!

I like flowers and plants. I like to chew on the leaves and knock their containers over. Yesterday we got this particularly toothsome bunch.

My people get mad when I bite the leaves and knock over the containers. They yell at me, but I'm unstoppable. Here's what the resort to when they can't take my antics:

They call it "the hold." Unfair!

More about my pasttimes

As you can see, I like a good nap. If there's cardboard involved, all the better. Sometimes when I wake up I tear off little bits of the box and spit them out on the rug.

I am also keenly interested in kitchen activities. Here I am supervising dinner at my vacation home in Pennsylvania.

I'm Milo

Hi everyone. I'm Milo. I'm a caramel and white rabbity soft boy and I live in New Jersey. I am a hearty eater and I play hard. I enjoy sleeping with my people, lounging on their desk, touching and chewing on things that crackle, chasing golf balls, playing "String," and climbing in drawers. I have a big voice and a lot to say. I also purr and knead and headbutt things I like.

My friend Yuri has a blog. Here it is: http://yuri-catablog.blogspot.com/ He and I used to be neighbors. Now we correspond in the cat-o-sphere. It's a better medium for us.
